Venetian plaster & microcement across Essex.

Essex is a short run from our Holborn studio up the A12 or the M11 and it has become one of our busiest counties for bathrooms. The work is mostly in family homes: a bathroom that has to take daily use from children and still look considered, a kitchen floor that runs through to the garden room without a threshold, a hallway that needs to survive dogs and school bags. Microcement suits all three, which is why so much of our Essex work is in it.

Recent Essex projects include a full microcement bathroom in Harlow Old Town, colour-matched to the owners' chosen paint so the walls, floor, bath surround and window reveal read as one warm grey surface with brass fittings against it. There is also an Essex bathroom renovation where our designer worked directly with the client on the layout before a bucket was mixed. Older Essex housing, from Victorian terraces in the towns to timber-framed and rendered cottages in the villages, asks for finishes that breathe. Our clay and lime plasters regulate moisture rather than trap it and we specify them where a modern sealed surface would be the wrong answer. New-builds and extensions take microcement well, over underfloor heating and straight through open-plan spaces.
