This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or contact us, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, ask us: info@tvpc.co.uk.
Who we are
This website is operated by Boaz Gabriel Ltd, trading as The Venetian Plaster Company, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12741072. Registered office: Onega House, 112 Main Road, Sidcup, Kent DA14 6NE. VAT registration number GB 416 9658 61. Boaz Gabriel Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

The information we collect and why
When you send an enquiry
Our enquiry form asks for your name, phone number and email address and optionally your project postcode and notes about the project. The form also records the choices you make in the steps before it - project type, the surfaces involved, approximate area and finish preference - along with the page you sent it from. We use this to respond to you, to arrange a consultation or site visit, to prepare a quotation and if you go ahead, to deliver the project. The lawful basis is that these are steps taken at your request before entering into a contract and performance of the contract once there is one. We also send you an automatic copy of what you submitted.
Staying in touch
Unless you tick the box on the form asking us not to, we add your name and contact details to our contacts list so that we can follow up on your enquiry and occasionally, let you know about our work - new finishes, projects we think you would find interesting and reminders about caring for a finish we have installed. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping in touch with people who have asked us about our services and because you were given the chance to say no when you enquired. Every message we send includes a way to opt out and you can ask us to remove you from the list at any time by emailing info@tvpc.co.uk. We never pass the list to anyone else.
When you request technical documents
If you ask us to send data sheets or other technical material, we collect your name, email address and where you give it, your practice or company, so that we can email the documents and follow up sensibly. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in supporting specifiers who have asked for our material.
When you phone, email or message us
We keep the correspondence and the contact details you share, for as long as we are dealing with your enquiry or project. The WhatsApp button on this site opens WhatsApp on your own device; any conversation there is also subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.
When you become a client
To carry out a project we hold your site address, access arrangements, the specification and colour references agreed, sample-panel and handover records, invoices and payment records and the care and handover documentation we issue. Some of this we are legally required to keep for accounting and tax purposes.
Photographs of finished work
We photograph completed projects for our own records and only with the client's agreement, for use in our portfolio, on this website and on our social channels. Project photographs do not identify you by name or address unless you have specifically agreed to that.
When you browse this website
Our web server automatically records the standard technical information any web server receives - your IP address, the browser and device you use, the pages you request and the time of each request - in short-lived logs used to keep the site secure and working. With your consent we also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; this is off until you accept analytics cookies and is described in our Cookie Policy. The finish visualiser and the enquiry form remember your choices in your own browser for the duration of your visit only; nothing about those choices is sent to us until you submit an enquiry.
The fonts on this site are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser sends its request, including your IP address, to Google. Google's privacy policy explains how it handles that: policies.google.com/privacy.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we never share it for other organisations' marketing. Your information is seen by:
- Our own team. Enquiries are delivered by email to the office and recorded in our customer records so that whoever handles your project has what they need. Our operatives are given only the site details required to do the work.
- Other professionals on your project, such as your architect, designer or main contractor - only what is needed to coordinate the work and only where you would expect it.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: the company that hosts this website and its enquiry system, our email provider and Google for analytics where you have consented. Each is bound by a contract to handle your information only on our instructions and to keep it secure.
- Our accountants and where required, HMRC, insurers or legal advisers, for the business records we are obliged to keep or to defend a claim.
Some of our providers store data outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens we rely on the UK's adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement (or the Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses) so that your information keeps the same protection it has here.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become projects: the details of the enquiry itself - postcode, project notes, the surfaces and finishes you were considering - are deleted 12 months after the enquiry. Your name and contact details stay on our contacts list (see "Staying in touch" above) until you ask us to remove them, or until we review the list and find we have had no contact with you for three years, whichever comes first. If you ticked the box asking us not to keep in touch, everything is deleted at 12 months.
- Project records: for as long as we support the installation and for financial records, six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the law requires.
- Technical document requests: 24 months.
- Web server logs: 30 days.
- Analytics data: as set in Google Analytics, currently 14 months and only if you have consented.
How we look after it
This website is served only over an encrypted connection. Enquiries are stored on access-controlled systems available to the people who need them and we check submissions on our own server rather than through third-party tracking tools. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and proportionate steps to protect your information and we would tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office if a breach ever put you at risk.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to processing based on our legitimate interests and ask for information you gave us to be provided in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time - for analytics cookies, use the Cookie Settings link in the footer. We will respond to any request within one month and will not charge for it unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@tvpc.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 - though we would welcome the chance to put it right first.
Children
This website and our services are aimed at adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we change how we use personal information we will update this page and the date at the top. Where a change is significant and we have your contact details, we will tell you directly.
